Volkswagen Scirocco R
Volkswagen Scirocco is a sport compact vehicle with front wheel drive which was created by an old project that started in 1970.
The idea initially started in 1970 when Volkswagen looked up for a replacement for the old Karmann Ghia coupe.
From the talented hands and great vision of the famous Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro the new model catches form.
In 1974 Volkswagen introduced the model on European market, 6 months before Golf and Jetta. Scirocco went on sale with motors from 1.1 liters to 1.6. In United States of America the model was available with 1.8 Liters Diesel engines on 1980.
During Mk 1 production some changes were made, in time classic windows wipers was replaced with one wiper that stands on the passenger side of the windshield. Scirocco Mk 1 was available also in 5 special variants: â€œSidewinder I and IIâ€, â€œChampagne Edition I and IIâ€ and â€œSâ€ (Storm) variant. The S model was a special variant equipped with Recaro Sport seats and sport accents on exterior and 5 speed gearbox.
Scirocco MK3In 2008 the new Scirocco was revealed at Geneva Motor Show after 2 years of past from announcement. Since the testing period Scirocco proved that is a great car, and done that by scoring 5 stars at EuroNCAP safety tests.
In 2009 Volkswagen launched the Scirocco R. The R version was equipped with an improved body kit with piano black finishes, the engine used on this special model was 2.0 FSI engine which also runs for classic versions of Scirocco.
